For this project we were tasked with writing an essay no shorter than 1500 words about a designer. We had the choice of 16 different designers to choose from. The essay was to be phrased as a question, discussing the designers work. It is to be presented on a single webpage so I will have to put my HTML and CSS skills to work.
After looking into all of the designers we could choose from I decided that the designer that resonated with me most was Massimo Vignelli. So I began researching Vignelli. I started out by checking if the University library had any books about Vignelli, they did, but only one.
Vignelli: From A to Z
I did manage to find a pdf version of The Vignelli Canon online so I read that too.
I also read through many online articles as to get a good idea of Vignelli’s design beliefs and practices in order to be able to pose a relevant question to base my essay on.
I found these books to be super similar in what they cover, that is kind of suggested in their titles, but I figured the more content I could get my hands on the better my essay will turn out.

Now it was time to look through my research and come up with a question that I felt not only relevant to Vignelli’s work but something that can be applied to design as a whole, perhaps through Vignelli’s perspective.
I settled on Can Design be Objective? with Massimo Vignelli.
I wanted to structure my essay into clear sub paragraphs that explored varying aspects of Vignelli’s work and explored my question to good length. To do this I went over my research including the books and articles I have read and tried to create a simple guide/structure for the essay.
