Reflection

I figured I would document my feelings and thoughts after my pitch to identify what went well and what didn't.

Presentation Setup

To begin the pitch I unfortunately had some issues with presenting and using my presenter notes. I have had this issue before in an interview so I made sure to take extra care in how I actually presented the pitch. I tested my presentation on the same hardware to be used on the day before hand and it worked okay but on the day I just couldn't get it to work.

In that interview when I had the same issue I ended up just presenting without my notes and it went really well. On this occasion I tried to juggle my notes and the presentation and I really wish I didn't. This led to make being less confident in my speaking and left me at a loss for words at some points.

This had to have been my biggest shortcoming with this project. I think the worst part is that I knew the content but I just tried to use notes even when I probably would have done better without them.

Concept

I managed to sit in on a majority of my classmates pitches and I can’t help but feel that I approach this project in an entire different scope. A lot of peoples ideas were to solve relatively small problems where as I felt I approached it in a more systems thinking way. I feel this was a strength on my part and I am really proud of my idea. I felt this kind of was acknowledged, not directly but it did feel appreciated for that reason, that being the scale in which I was pitching.

Slide Design

Calling back to the previous paragraph on concept. In my development I wanted to bring a really strong visual identity to the forefront with this one. I felt because I was trying to challenge such a huge system that if the brand was weak or had any major inconsistencies then it might slowly unravel.

I felt the visual identity for my idea was fantastic. It hit all the marks of what you might expect it to. It was fresh, creative, exciting and flexible. I felt this aspect of the pitch helped carry me when my presenting skills let me down. In my feedback it was mentioned that they were well made and thought out so I was glad to hear it was appreciated.
