Once we got the team sorted, the first thing was getting our workflow in order so we don't fall behind. We set up a Slack for the daily chat and a Miro board to act as our main hub for everything. One thing I was really keen on was figuring out how to divvy up the work properly from the start. We’ve gone with a colour coding system for the Miro board so we always know who’s doing what and when it’s done.
The System:
Blue: Myself
Pink: Holly
Purple: Grace
Yellow: Christopher
Green: Paul
It’s basically a way to make sure everyone is pulling their weight, which will be a lifesaver when it comes to marking later on.

With the board ready, I set up a space for an initial gut reaction brainstorm. It was just a place to dump our thoughts immediately after the brief to see how everyone was interpreting things. It was a pretty constructive exercise it’s interesting to see where everyone's head is at.
For me, I’m still really thinking about what Dr. Ruth Graham mentioned regarding the Ask Him system. I love the idea of leveraging existing infrastructure that’s already there rather than trying to build some brand new digital tool. It’s more about pairing systems together to create a bridge for something that’s currently broken.

While the group is still finding its feet, I took some work home to start a bit of a competitor analysis. It’s not so much about products, but more of a Global Benchmarking ****exercise. I’ve started mapping out recidivism rates from prisons all over the world to see who is getting it right and who is getting it wrong. I'm hoping to use this as a bit of a jumping off point to see what systems are actually working in other countries.

Myra’s brief is massive, so there was a lot to digest. She suggested five specific areas to focus on, and since there are five of us in the group, it worked out perfectly to branch off and start some desk research.
Myself: Digital Exclusion**.** Looking at the lack of devices and internet access and how that stops people from accessing essential services.
