Looking back on this module as a whole, I feel like it has been one of the more impactful ones for me this year. What stood out most wasn’t just the projects themselves, but how directly the lectures influenced the quality of my work. It’s one of the first times where I’ve been able to clearly see my content improve as a result of what we were being taught, rather than the lectures feeling separate from the practical work.

The watch project was easily my favourite of the three. I really enjoyed the level of constraint it came with, as it forced me to be deliberate with every decision I made. Limited screen space, minimal interactions, and a clear user need made the design process feel focused rather than overwhelming. I found that these constraints actually made the project more enjoyable, as they removed unnecessary complexity and encouraged better problem-solving. It also helped reinforce the importance of clarity, hierarchy, and usability, as there was no room to hide behind visual noise.

The SDG project was probably the most ambitious in terms of scope. I’m proud of what I produced, especially the world building, narrative, and visual consistency, but if I were to do it again I think I would take a different approach. In hindsight, I would lean more towards a product focused solution rather than a primarily narrative one. While the storytelling worked well in communicating the message, I feel there may have been an opportunity to create something that functioned more clearly as a digital product with measurable outcomes. That said, the project allowed me to experiment creatively and apply concepts around content design, accessibility, and user needs in a way that felt engaging rather than restrictive.

The UX audit was the project that surprised me the most. At the beginning, it was something I really didn’t enjoy and initially found quite frustrating. However, once I got into it, it quickly became one of the most rewarding parts of the module. Analysing an existing system and identifying real usability issues felt far more grounded than creating something from scratch. I particularly enjoyed having to justify problems properly and propose realistic solutions rather than idealised redesigns. It helped me develop a more critical eye and a stronger understanding of how UX principles apply in real world contexts.

Overall, this module has significantly changed how I think about content, usability, and accessibility. The lectures on usability testing, heuristics, and accessibility had a noticeable impact on how I approached all three projects, especially in terms of structure, clarity, and user consideration. I feel much more confident in my ability to assess and improve digital experiences, and I now place far more value on research, testing, and evaluation than I did previously. This module has helped me develop stronger work and a more considered design process moving forward.
