For this project we were asked to create a series of frames corresponding to a keyword for point and line. For point this meant using perfect circles to convey scale over 5 frames for example. For line this meant using straight lines to convey frequency as an example. We were also asked to make a series of 5 frames consisting of planes. These planes had to exist due to some logic or or data.
To begin brain storming for concepts to build my designs upon I started by first laying out the things that inspire me in everyday life, so I took to figma to visualise my main sources of inspiration before sketching just to ensure some direction within my sketching
I ended up plotting out some of my hobbies and interests and the things about them that seem to captivate me the most. From here I decided to put an idea to each.
This was my first brainstorm.

I decided that that I really liked not only the idea of sticking to a theme of naturally occurring things/things you might see in everyday life but the challenge also. To go out and seek symmetry, proximity or reflection. So outside I went.
At this point of my research I feel that I may have misinterpreted the brief/task.

While I think these ideas are creative within the limits of the brief I dont think they represent good design or design structure in anyway. With this in mind I went back to my inspiration board.
This time instead of sticking to one idea across the whole project, I thought it might be best to spread a range if ideas across the 5 different set of frames, allowing for me to get the best of each source of inspiration.
So I plotted my new points of inspiration, one area for each set of frames.
I settled on using the following sources as my main inspiration as well as something not listed within my inspiration board but rather inspiration i drew from a past pupils work.

Here I have added a little asterisk to each section I believe to have aided me in producing an idea for the separate frames, aside from one which I stated have taken inspiration from a past pupil.
For my first set of point frames I chose to tackle proximity. This is the set of frames in which I was inspired by Noah Westons work. For one of his line frames he chose to incorporate this idea of chemical compounds as design and I found it to be a fascinating perspective, one I would have never picked up on as I really have no background in chemistry. But it did get me thinking about how I could translate that thinking into my own background. I came to the conclusion, as straigjt forward a connection it is that there exists a similar kind of design within biology, something I have previously studied. I found it to be almost more exciting that finding the connection between a chemical compound and line design as what I had found design in was naturally occurring. It was the formation of cells, more specifically under a microscope.
