To understand best how my portfolio should look I researched some other portfolios to see what works well and what would be suitable for myself.

Shovel Studio

A site I find myself referring back to often is Shovel Studios. There is something that resonates about the structure of this site that to me just feels so right. You can really tell that they specialise in web development. Everything is so semantically structured but in such a unique way that isn’t over done.

What I really love is how headings and content stay in the same position across each page, it makes the whole site much more engaging and usable whilst adding a sense of style and charm. As well as this I think their use of language is just fantastic. It is so engaging and confident which believes me to think they are well versed in design and that they know their stuff.

Milan Reed

Whilst browsing bestfolios.com I came across Milans Portfolio. What stood out most to me was not only how stylish it was but how the information was organised. This careful consideration to the hierarchy of relevant information had me thinking back to how I had planned my CV. It makes for a much more immersive experience as a viewer and it let me digest the content as it came and didn’t require me to go seeking for it.

I think this kind of consideration for the hierarchy of my content will elevate my portfolio and hopefully result in users remembering that little bit extra about me.

Juliette Wang

Another portfolio that I pulled from bestfolios.com was Juliette Wangs. What stood out to me about this one was how direct it was in its approach. No fluff, here is what I did, where I did it and who I am. This stood out to me purely because I was looking through so many different portfolios for inspiration that when I stumbled across Juliettes I felt that that direct approach was actually needed in some sense as it allowed me to get stuck into the content immediately and ultimately get to know her as a designer.
