After wrapping up our first year within the course, we were advised to spend some time over the summer to develop our own personal brands to give us a good starting point going into Year 2 where this idea of self will be a big focus. I thought long and hard about my approach to this. I could make a portfolio showcasing my university work so far, I could hone in on a personal brand creating brand identity components such as a logo and monogram. I felt that these approaches, whilst fun and constructive, were a little limited in what they could communicate. I thought that if I could produce some work that I felt touched on key areas of design and research that I hold dearly, that this could be a better way to communicate who I am as a designer and what I stand for. It is a little ambitious but I believe that challenge is what makes us grow.
